It’s Not Goodbye, Just a Temporary Farewell
Let’s face it, saying goodbye is never easy, but when it comes to "Grace and Frankie," it feels like more than just the end of a show. At a special tribute to television comedy legends on November 21, Lily Tomlin, now 80, opened up about how she feels about the show wrapping up. “Coming to the end? I feel sad,” the legendary comedian shared with Closer Weekly and other reporters. “Jane and I, we’re kind of like grieving the loss. We agreed to do seven seasons, and now they’re holding us to it. It’s a bittersweet moment, you know? We’re relieved in a way, ready to have fun and start something new. But on the flip side, what if we don’t come up with anything? We might lose our jobs!”
A Journey That Began in 2015
Back in 2015, Lily and Jane took the world by storm with "Grace and Frankie," and the show quickly became a fan favorite. So, when the news broke that the seventh season would be the last, it was no surprise that both stars expressed their sorrow. “We are both delighted and heartbroken that ‘Grace and Frankie’ will be back for its seventh, though final, season,” Lily and Jane revealed in a statement. “We’re so grateful that our show has been able to tackle issues that truly resonate with our grand generation. And not just them, but their kids, and surprisingly, their kids as well!”
“We’ll miss Grace and Frankie as much as their fans will, but we’ll still be around,” the close pals added. “We’ve outlasted so many things — just hoping we don’t outlast the planet.” This isn’t the first time that Jane and Lily have admitted how shocked they were by the positive reception their series received.
