Since getting engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, the TODAY show co-anchor has been thinking hard about how to break the big news to her two little ones—2-year-old Haley Joy and newborn Hope Catherine. After putting some serious thought into it, she's finally come up with the perfect way to share the exciting news.
How Hoda Plans to Tell Her Kids About the Engagement
“I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and it’s kind of tricky because it’s such a big deal. But I think I’ll just keep it simple,” Hoda explained during a book signing for her latest release, I Really Needed This Today: Words to Live By, on December 10. “I’ll tell Haley something like, ‘Mommy and Daddy are having a party because we love each other so much.’ That should cover it without overwhelming her.”
She added, “It’s important to me that the message is clear but not too much for her little mind to process. Kids are smart, but they also live in the moment. So, I want her to feel the joy of the moment without overcomplicating things.”
