Even on a much-needed break, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just can't resist lending a hand. While enjoying a scenic hike at Horth Hill Regional Park during their vacation in Victoria, Canada, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry crossed paths with a couple in need of some royal assistance. It turns out, the couple was struggling to capture the perfect selfie against a breathtaking backdrop, and who better to step in than a former actress who knows a thing or two about posing for pictures?
A Royal Helping Hand in Victoria
Asymina Kantorowicz and her boyfriend, Iliya Pavlovic, were attempting to capture the perfect holiday memory when they noticed a familiar face approaching. Asymina recounted the moment to CTV News Vancouver Island on Thursday, January 2, saying, "We noticed a group standing nearby with two adorable dogs, one of which was getting a little too close for comfort." The couple was in the middle of trying to snap a photo with the stunning landscape when none other than Duchess Meghan offered her assistance.

Asymina revealed that it took her a moment to realize the kind stranger was none other than the Duchess of Sussex herself. “I thought she looked familiar, but I couldn’t believe it was actually her,” she said. Once it dawned on her that she was standing in front of the real-life royal, she was utterly starstruck. “I froze up. I couldn’t believe who it was,” Asymina recalled. “Then I looked over and saw Prince Harry standing right there. I was looking back and forth thinking, ‘Is this really happening?’”

A Picture-Perfect Moment
Despite the unexpected encounter, the couple graciously accepted Meghan’s offer to take their photo. However, Asymina admitted that her excitement made it hard for her to form coherent sentences. “The only thing I could think to say was, ‘There’s only so much that selfie sticks can do,’” she shared. Meghan laughed and replied, “We’ll have to do better,” while Prince Harry lightened the mood by chiming in, “No pressure.”
For Asymina, meeting the royal couple was nothing short of a dream come true. “It was such an incredible experience,” she gushed. Before parting ways, Meghan even wished the couple a Happy New Year, adding a personal touch to their memorable encounter.

A Change of Plans for Christmas
This heartwarming encounter comes after the couple made headlines by jetting off to Canada for their Christmas vacation. Unlike previous years, when the royal family gathers at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate for a lavish holiday celebration, Harry and Meghan decided to spend their first Christmas as parents in a more relaxed setting.

According to a source, the couple is staying with Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney, and her husband, Ben, while visiting Toronto. “It was exactly what Meghan wanted,” the insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. “She wanted Archie’s first Christmas to be low-key and mellow, where they could all hang out in their pajamas in the living room and laugh and joke — and not have it be very stuffy with the rest of the royal family.”
With the New Year upon us, we can’t help but wonder if Meghan and Harry will expand their family in 2020. Here’s hoping for another exciting chapter in the life of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
