Do you remember that moment when Ryan Seacrest introduced the first-ever American Idol winner? Well, Paula Abdul was right there, and more than 15 years later, she's still glowing with pride over Kelly Clarkson's incredible journey. Paula, now 57, recently attended the Wags & Walks Benefit Gala in Hollywood, where she opened up about her admiration for Kelly and how proud she is of the singer's accomplishments.

A Legacy of Support for American Idol Contestants

During the gala on October 5, Paula Abdul didn't hold back in expressing her admiration for Kelly Clarkson. "Let me tell you something, and this is the absolute truth. I've always been a huge supporter of all the American Idol winners," Paula exclusively shared with Closer Weekly. "I've been to every single one of their first concerts, their first record release parties, and even their Broadway debuts. And when it comes to Kelly, I once wrote on her wall, 'I know for a fact I'm your second proudest mama.' Isn't that amazing?"

The Authenticity of Kelly Clarkson

On a side note, Kelly Clarkson, who's now a mom to two adorable kids—River, 5, and Remington, 3, with her husband Brandon Blackstock—has always been known for her genuine personality. And Paula Abdul couldn't agree more. "You know what’s incredible about Kelly? She’s just so real. What you see is exactly what you get. There’s no pretense, no facade. She’s authentic through and through," Paula raved. "She’s not just a talented singer; she’s a remarkable person."

Aside from belting out hit after hit, Kelly Clarkson has recently launched her own daytime talk show. And guess what? Paula Abdul, along with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, made a special appearance. "It was absolutely unforgettable," Paula reminisced about the reunion last month. "The energy in the room was electric. When we walked out, the audience erupted into applause. It was a powerful reminder of how much people loved seeing us together again. The most incredible part? No matter how much time passes—whether it's six weeks, six months, or six years—the chemistry between us is instant. We pick up right where we left off, like no time has passed at all."
