A Beautiful Soul: Kimberly J. Brown Remembers Debbie Reynolds
There are some people in this world who leave an indelible mark on your heart, and Debbie Reynolds was one of them. Kimberly J. Brown, the talented actress who shared the screen with Debbie in the beloved 1998 Disney Channel classic Halloweentown, still carries fond memories of the late Hollywood icon. Even though it's been almost three years since Debbie passed away, Kimberly continues to cherish the lessons she learned from her. It's like Debbie's spirit lives on through the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kimberly, now 34, was just a teenager when she landed the role of Marnie Piper in Halloweentown. She quickly realized that Debbie wasn't just an icon of the silver screen; she was a genuine, kind-hearted person who cared deeply about others. "She made it a point to tell us kids, 'Always make time for fans and say hello.' That advice has stayed with me over the years," Kimberly shared in an interview with Page Six. "She truly appreciated the ability to entertain and bring joy to people's lives. She taught me that it's a gift to be able to do that for others, and I carry that lesson with me every single day."

Working with a Legend: Debbie Reynolds’ Warmth and Grace
When Kimberly was just 13 years old, she landed the role of Debbie's granddaughter in Halloweentown. You can imagine the nerves that come with working alongside a legend, but Debbie quickly put everyone at ease. "When you hear you're going to work with someone of that magnitude, you never know what to expect," Kimberly recalled. "But she was the opposite of any stereotype. She was warm, gracious, and it was such a privilege to work with someone like her. She impacted me not just professionally but personally, and her influence has stayed with me over the years."

A Legacy of Love: Debbie Reynolds’ Final Days
Debbie Reynolds, the Oscar-winning actress, passed away on December 28, 2016, at the age of 84, just one day after her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher, died. Debbie's son, Todd Fisher, once revealed that his mother's passing wasn't due to a broken heart, as many believed. "The common theory about Mom’s passing was that, after losing Carrie, Debbie Reynolds died of a broken heart," Todd wrote in an excerpt obtained by USA Today. "Take it from the son who was there, who knew her better than anyone else on earth — that’s simply not true. Debbie Reynolds willed herself right off this planet to personally see to it that Carrie would never be alone."
"That had been her driving force all of Carrie’s life, including having me so that Carrie wouldn’t be an only child, and it continued to be her driving force when Carrie left," Todd added. It's clear that Debbie's love for her daughter was boundless, and she made sure Carrie was surrounded by love even in her final moments.
