'Sister, Sister' Star Tim Reid Reveals He's Living 'Cancer-Free

If you still picture Tim Reid as the chill DJ Venus Flytrap from the beloved sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, it's time to update that image. Since the show wrapped in 1982, Tim has built an incredible legacy. He founded his own movie studio, produced and starred in the Emmy-nominated series Frank’s Place, and recently celebrated 50 years in the entertainment industry—all powered by his unstoppable drive. "I’ve always been a survivor, and never afraid to take chances," the Norfolk, Virginia, native exclusively shares with Closer Weekly in their latest issue, now available on newsstands. From his comedic beginnings to memorable roles on shows like Simon & Simon, Tim has overcome challenges, including a battle with prostate cancer at age 60, with unwavering strength.

Tim credits much of his resilience to the unwavering support of his second wife, the iconic Daphne Maxwell Reid of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and his children, Tori and Tim Reid II. As he prepares for the release of three new holiday TV movies—Radio Christmas, Check Inn to Christmas, and Baking Christmas—he opens up to Closer about his remarkable journey and why, at 74, "age means nothing to me."
