Sam's Journey to Becoming a Firefighter
According to NJ.com’s The Jersey Journal, Sam has been on this path for quite some time. Back in March, it was reported that the Bard College graduate took the civil service exam last year to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter. Although the results have been released, they haven't been made public yet. Sources say that 60 top scorers will head to training, which lasts about five months. Training for Jersey City firefighters is expected to begin later this year.
Sam's dedication to this field isn't new. In 2014, he graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy and has since served as a volunteer firefighter with the Monmouth County Fire Department in Colts Neck, New Jersey. That's where his parents currently live, and it's clear that Sam has been building a solid foundation for his career in firefighting. His hard work and passion haven't gone unnoticed. Monmouth County Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III once praised Sam, saying, "He’s very smart… He enjoyed what he was doing.”

Bruce Springsteen's Deep Connection to Firefighters
There's no doubt that Bruce and Patti are over the moon about Sam's new role. It brings back memories of Bruce's tribute to firefighters following the tragic events of 9/11. In 2002, he released his album, "The Rising," as a response to the terror attacks. During an appearance on Nightline, Bruce spoke passionately about the firefighters who risked everything to save lives that day.
He shared, "One of the most powerful images of the [September] 11th, that I’d read in the paper, some of the people coming down were talking about the emergency workers who were ascending… The idea of those guys going up the stairs, up the stairs, ascending, ascending. I mean you could be ascending a smoky staircase, you could be in the afterlife, moving on.” These words reflect the deep respect Bruce has for firefighters and their selfless bravery.
A Bright Future Ahead for Sam
As Sam embarks on this new chapter in his life, we send him all the luck and safety he'll need. It's clear that he has the support of an incredible family and a community that values his commitment. With his background and passion, there's no doubt he'll make a significant impact in his role as a firefighter. Congratulations, Sam, and thank you for following your dreams!
