Dean McDermott has always been a supportive dad. When his son, Jack McDermott, came out as gay at 17, Dean stood by him with open arms. Dean recounted a recent visit when Jack came home for four days. Over dinner, Jack casually mentioned, "So, yeah, I broke up with Steve." Dean was caught off guard. "I didn’t even know you were going out with Steve," he said. "Like, you don’t tell me anything." Dean added that Jack didn't divulge much about his past relationships, leaving the father feeling a bit in the dark. "He’s like, ‘Yeah, we were going out for, like, a year.’ I say, ‘Yeah, as a dude why don’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘Eh.’" It's clear that Jack prefers to keep his romantic details to himself, and Dean respects that, even if it leaves him curious.

Dean admitted that his son Jack probably has one fascinating love life, given his good looks. "My son Jack is gay… he’s this beautiful, 6-foot-4, beautiful Adonis," Dean shared on the podcast. "He’s just a gorgeous kid." Dean's pride in his son's appearance is evident, but he can't help but wonder why Jack keeps his romantic life under wraps. "Jack is out there, living his life, and I’m sure he’s got a lot of admirers," Dean speculated, adding a chuckle.

Interestingly, Dean shared a story that might explain Jack's reluctance. During the early days of his relationship with wife Tori Spelling, Dean recounted an awkward moment. "When [Tori] and I first got together, I had Jack every other weekend," Dean explained. "One night, Jack couldn’t sleep, and we were making a lot of noise. I just happened to be looking towards the door and saw the doorknob turn." Dean quickly jumped off the bed, hoping to avoid an embarrassing situation. "He said, ‘Dad, is everything OK?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I just got a migraine.’" It's a funny story, but it might explain why Jack keeps his love life private.
