At 93 years old, Dick Van Dyke continues to dazzle audiences with his incredible energy and charm. If you've seen him perform his age-defying dance routines in last year's musical sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But how does this legend keep going so strong, year after year? Recently, he shared some insights with Closer Weekly at the opening of Feinstein’s at Vitello’s supper club in Los Angeles.
With a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye, Dick explained, "I just love what I do. I’ve been one of those lucky people who’ve managed to turn their passion into a career. For me, it’s not just about work—it’s about joy. That’s why I’m still here tonight, performing with all my heart. They can’t get me off the stage, even if they tried!" His enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s clear that his love for performing keeps him going strong.
What Keeps Dick Van Dyke So Agile?

Dick attributes his incredible agility and vitality to a combination of good genes and smart choices. "I’ve always been someone who values fitness," he shared. "Even now, at my age, I make it a priority to exercise regularly. I hit the gym three days a week, swim laps in the pool, and engage in water aerobics. I also lift weights and walk on a treadmill to keep my body moving." He added with a laugh, "At my age, they say the key is to keep moving. And you know what? It works! Put me on solid ground, and I’ll start tapping!"

Back on Screen in Mary Poppins Returns
Dick’s return to the screen in Mary Poppins Returns was nothing short of magical. The sequel to his 1964 classic brought him back into the spotlight, where he happily danced alongside Emily Blunt, who played the iconic title role, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the celebrated creator of Hamilton. Lin-Manuel, who is 39 years younger, was thrilled to work with Dick and shared some behind-the-scenes insights with Closer Weekly.
"I mainly talked to Dick about his Tony-winning performance in Bye Bye Birdie, because I played Conrad Birdie in sixth grade," Lin-Manuel revealed. "We bonded over song and dance, and it was an absolute dream to collaborate with someone who’s been such a huge influence on my career." He went on to gush about Dick’s boundless energy. "Dick has more energy than I will ever have in my life, and it’s incredible. It’s both humbling and inspiring to watch him perform with such passion and precision. It’s awesome!"
