It feels like Hoda Kotb has been walking on sunshine these days! Just under two months after adopting her second child, the beloved Today show host is celebrating yet another milestone in her life. On Wednesday, June 5, Hoda took to Instagram to share a sweet post commemorating her six-year anniversary with her long-time boyfriend, Joel Schiffman, which happened the day before.
A Special Anniversary
“Yesterday marked six years with this incredible man,” the 54-year-old beauty wrote in the caption of a picture-perfect photo of the two smiling ear to ear. “Six years…two children…two new jobs…one grateful heart.” Hoda went on to sweetly add, “P.S. thank you @jolamathisen and #tyler… if it weren’t for you two… we never would have met on that night.” It's moments like these that remind us why we adore Hoda so much—her heart is full of gratitude and love. Life's Journey with Joel Schiffman
A lot has changed since Hoda began dating Joel, who is 61, back in 2013. Besides her career skyrocketing, the TV personality has become a mom not once, but twice. In 2017, the couple adopted their first baby girl, Haley Joy. Fast forward to this past April, and they gave 2-year-old Haley a baby sister by adopting their second little girl, Hope Catherine. It's clear that family is at the heart of Hoda's world right now.
The Road to Adoption
Hoda first considered adoption years ago after her treatment for breast cancer left her unable to conceive. During a heartfelt visit to The Wendy Williams Show this past March, Hoda opened up about Joel’s incredibly supportive reaction when she first brought up the conversation of wanting kids.
“I wanted to be a mom and I kept thinking today is the day,” Hoda explained to Wendy Williams about her financier beau at the time. “I went to Joel and I said to him, ‘I need to discuss something with you and it’s very important.’ I said, ‘I want you not to answer me now. I want you to marinate. I want you to take a week, take a month, take as long as you need.’ And he looked at me like he was terrified.” Hoda went on to describe the moment she mustered up all her courage to tell Joel how she truly felt about having kids.
“I said, ‘I want to explore adoption with you,’” she recalled. “He said, ‘I don’t need a minute.’ I cried on his chest and my mascara went down because in that minute, he knew that there was nothing that could make me happier.” It's moments like this that remind us just how special Joel is to Hoda's life.

Unwavering Love and Commitment
Though Hoda and Joel aren't married, the You Are My Happy author knows that her man is in it for the long haul. “Joel is not only a great life partner, he will be with me the rest of my life,” she once gushed to Entertainment Tonight. “I have no doubt he’s an unbelievable father to Haley. He literally comes home and says, ‘Is she sleeping? Oh no, did I miss her?’ And when she says ‘Dada’ and stumbles over to him, I don’t know that there’s a sweeter sound.”
