There’s something truly endearing about a parent who wholeheartedly supports their child's dreams. John Travolta, the legendary actor, has been unapologetically honest about the role he plays in his daughter Ella's acting career—let’s just call him a "stage dad." On a recent episode of The Talk, John opened up about his experience watching Ella, a budding actress, perform and how much it means to him.

John Travolta Talks About Being Ridiculously Invested in Ella’s Acting Career

During the Friday, May 24 episode of The Talk, John Travolta, the 65-year-old Oscar-nominated actor, joined his 19-year-old daughter, Ella, to discuss their shared passion for the craft of acting. While the two were chatting, John revealed just how deeply involved he gets when watching his daughter perform. “I am ridiculous,” he confessed with a laugh. “I’m behind the camera mouthing every word she says, doing her moves. My wife, Kelly Preston, gets hysterical watching me because I just want everything to go perfectly for her.”

John Travolta and Ella Star in The Poison Rose: A Tough Beginning

John and Ella's collaboration in the new film The Poison Rose has given fans a glimpse into the dynamic between this father-daughter duo. John recalled the challenges Ella faced on her very first day on set. “Poor Ella, she hadn’t acted since the 2009 film Old Dogs with Robin Williams, and they gave her the most complicated scene,” John said. “It was 4 a.m., and she had to cry, hold a gun, and consider all sorts of things. Despite the tough conditions, she nailed it. The crew even gave her a big applause because you wouldn’t typically give such a challenging role to anyone at that time of day. But I told her, ‘Well, you’re on your own. You’ve got to deliver.’ And she did.”

Ella Finds Strength in Her Father’s Support

While John might be a self-proclaimed "stage dad," Ella is completely okay with it. In fact, she finds immense comfort in having her father by her side. “It actually helped so much knowing that he was there,” Ella said during the CBS program. “He would come up in between scenes, give me advice, and I would know that I had him behind the monitor, just watching, making sure it was good.”
