Life can throw you curveballs you don’t see coming, and Tarek El Moussa is proof of that. The former star of "Flip or Flop" recently shared that he "wasn't expecting" his divorce from Christina Anstead, revealing the emotional journey behind it all.
Reflecting on Life’s Unexpected Twists
In a candid moment during an appearance on RuPaul on June 13, Tarek opened up about the end of his marriage, admitting it was a turn he hadn’t anticipated. “It wasn’t something I ever thought would happen in my life,” the 37-year-old confessed. “But you know what? I’ve learned so much from the experience. I can honestly say I’m a better person now because of it. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Building a Life Together
Tarek went on to explain how his first marriage began, sharing that he and Christina met at a young age. “We were kids, really. I was 24, and she was 22,” he said. “The moment we met, there was just this connection. We built a life together, and for a long time, everything seemed perfect. But life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes, even the strongest connections can change over time.”

Hope on the Horizon
Though Tarek admitted that just a few months ago, he might have said “no” to the idea of remarrying, he’s now more optimistic. “I have hope that I’ll find someone special again,” he shared. “It’s not something I rush into lightly, but I’m open to the possibility. Life has taught me to be patient and trust the process.”
The couple tied the knot in 2009, only to file for divorce in 2017. Together, they have two children, Taylor, 8, and Brayden, 3. Christina, now 35, has since moved on and married Ant Anstead, with whom she’s expecting her first child. Meanwhile, Tarek admitted that the dating scene hasn’t been kind to him so far.

“I’ve never been in such a good place mentally, financially, spiritually—everything feels perfect right now,” Tarek revealed. “So when it comes to relationships, I’m cautious. Everything’s going so well that I don’t want to mess it up. My biggest fear in life is the feeling of loss. I’m scared to fall in love again because I don’t ever want to feel that kind of pain.”

Just recently, Christina moved out of the home she shared with Tarek for years. “Closing this chapter of my life after the divorce is bittersweet,” she shared on the June 6 episode of her new show, Christina on the Coast. “There are so many memories tied to that house—it’s not easy to leave behind.”
