While Abby Huntsman and Meghan McCain often engage in spirited debates on The View, their relationship extends far beyond the TV screen. In a recent interview, Abby revealed that she and Meghan share a deep bond off-set, even finding time to catch up via FaceTime almost every night. It’s clear these two aren’t just co-workers—they’re close friends.
At The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Champions for Change Gala on Thursday, October 17, Abby, 33, opened up about her personal life and her relationships with the other ladies on the ABC daytime talk show. When asked who she leans on the most from the group, Abby told Closer Weekly, “You know, all of them in different ways. But I would say Meghan. We’ve been really good friends for a long time now, and we FaceTime almost every night. We’re very, very close.”

Abby Talks About Meghan’s Growth on The View
Abby, who also works alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin, shared her thoughts on how Meghan McCain has grown as a panelist on The View. After two years on the show, has Meghan become more comfortable with her colleagues? “You know what? Meghan is who she is,” Abby explained. “What you see on the air is exactly what you’re going to get. That’s what makes her so special. She doesn’t pretend or act. She’s the real deal.”
Meghan McCain’s Role as the Conservative Voice
This perspective comes after some of the controversial stances Meghan has taken on the show, sparking reactions from viewers. Despite the backlash, Meghan remains steadfast in her role as the sole conservative voice on The View. In an interview with ET, she expressed her commitment to representing a significant portion of the population. “I try to remind myself that I’m representing 50 percent of the country,” Meghan said. “I’m representing a bunch of women, even though I only have one chair, and it’s really important.”

Meghan went on to share her inspiration and aspirations. “I also try to think of, as cheesy as it sounds, what Elisabeth Hasselbeck used to mean to me when I was young,” she said. “I used to watch The View in college, and she was really such an icon for young Republican women. I hope I’m giving that same feeling to anyone who’s watching now. I know there are people in the middle of the country who feel really happy that someone is representing them.”
