Andy Gibb's Struggles and Legacy
Andy Gibb, the youngest brother of the legendary Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, and Maurice Gibb, battled drug addiction for years. Unfortunately, his struggles with cocaine abuse led to myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, which ultimately claimed his life on March 10, 1988, just five days after his 30th birthday. Years later, Marie learned that her tough decision to end things with Andy had a surprising effect. "It's interesting because he told me that call was like a wake-up call for him, and he cleaned himself up," Marie explained. "He said it was a really good thing because, 'I saw where my life was heading and I changed it.' Unfortunately, though, his heart gave out on him, and it was really sad. He was so talented. The camera loved him. He was just beautiful."
Marie and Andy's Connection in Show Business
Marie and Andy both moved in the same show business circles, thanks to their incredible voices. Andy even appeared on the iconic Donny & Marie variety show, season 4, episode 4, which aired on October 20, 1978. Although their romance didn't last long, it's clear they shared a deep connection.
Aside from his brief relationship with Marie, Andy married Kim Reeder in 1976. They welcomed a daughter named Peta but divorced in 1978. He also dated Kari Michaelsen and Victoria Principal.
