As Tyra Banks watches her 3-year-old son, York, grow up, she's noticed some truly fascinating changes. In a recent conversation with Closer Weekly at the 2019 Breakthrough Prize Awards, Tyra revealed that her little one has a knack for science that's beyond his years. She joked that York is "very advanced" for his age, thanks to his newfound love for scientific concepts.
Speaking on Sunday, November 3, Tyra couldn't help but gush about her son's intellectual curiosity. "I will say my son is very advanced," she shared with a proud smile. "The other day, he asked me about symbiosis, and I had to Google it. I was like, 'Symbiotic? What does that mean again?' He was like, 'Mommy, it’s symbiosis.' Can you believe that?"
She continued with a laugh, "And now he's talking about stalagmites and stalactites! He's not even 4 yet, but yeah, he's a good science boy." It's clear that Tyra is both impressed and amused by her son's early intellectual pursuits. Watching a young child dive into such complex topics is nothing short of amazing.

Protecting York's Privacy Amid Fame

While Tyra's stunning looks and talent could easily open doors for York in the modeling world, she's not pushing her son in that direction. "Only if he wants to," she explained thoughtfully. "I'm not really into that. If you notice, I don't put him on social media because, for me personally, I feel like he hasn't asked for that. So, I try to protect him as much as I can."
Teaching York the Value of Hard Work
Tyra, who shares York with her photographer boyfriend, Erik Asla, emphasizes the importance of instilling a strong work ethic in her son. "He needs to understand why we have a beautiful house," she previously told In Touch. "It's because Mommy kicks ass at work. I don't want him to think, 'Oh, she's in the entertainment industry and all this stuff just comes with that.'"
For York to truly appreciate everything he has, Tyra ensures he sees her working. "I let York see me in meetings," she said. "I want him to know he's going to go to a good school and have nice things because I’m working overtime. When I have to leave for work, he’ll see me going to the car and start crying and say, 'Mommy, I want you to be here.' That’s very difficult."

It may be early to predict, but we're sure York is going to grow up and do amazing things just like his incredible parents!
