Laughing Through Life: Jimmy Kimmel's Perspective on Parenthood
Jimmy Kimmel may be the king of late-night laughs, but when he walks through the door of his home, he's faced with a tougher crowd than any studio audience: his two young kids. At 51 years old, Jimmy finds humor in the fact that his children, Jane, 5, and Billy, 2, couldn’t care less about his fame. "I keep telling them I’m this big, funny TV star, and they don’t seem to care," Jimmy shared exclusively with Closer Weekly, which recently featured him in their latest issue now available on newsstands. This revelation came while discussing his family at the LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade culinary event.
Little Eyes, Big World
Jimmy's kids may not fully grasp the concept of their dad being on television. "If I see a billboard with my face on it, I’ll pull over and make them get up on the roof of the car so they can appreciate it, but they don’t," he jokes. Jimmy adds, "They think everybody’s father is on TV. I don’t think they know the difference between a TV and an iPhone." It’s clear that Jimmy cherishes these little moments of innocence and the unique perspective his children bring to his life.

Billy's Journey: From Heart Defect to Little Superhero
On a more serious note, Jimmy shares that Billy, who was born with a congenital heart defect, is "doing great." Billy doesn’t let his medical history slow him down, often pretending he's Spider-Man. "He wears the costume all the time and shoots webs all over the house. So we’re safe from crime," Jimmy jokes. Billy turned 2 years old in April, and Jimmy marked the occasion by thanking the doctors who saved his son’s life. "Happy 2nd birthday to our little #Easter buddy Billy," Jimmy wrote on Instagram. "We are grateful always to the nurses and doctors at @CedarsSinai & @ChildrensLA who saved his life and all of you who prayed and sent positive thoughts our way."

Billy's Health and the Support He Receives
Billy has already undergone multiple open-heart surgeries, and he’ll need a few more procedures as he grows older to ensure his health is in top shape. "He’ll have another surgery when he’s around 6 or 7 years old, but in the meantime, he’s doing great," Jimmy previously revealed to Oprah Winfrey. The comedian’s friend Ellen DeGeneres also honored Billy in a very special way. During her talk show, Ellen shared, "We called our friends at Children’s Hospital LA. We have named one of the rooms of the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy. That will forever be the Billy Kimmel room." Such a heartfelt gesture truly highlights the love and support surrounding Billy and his family.
