Moms Just Can't Help Themselves: Leslie Mann Comments on Daughter Iris' Makeup
There’s nothing quite like a parent’s unwavering eye for improvement, and Leslie Mann is no exception. When her 16-year-old daughter, Iris Apatow, posted a photo on Instagram alongside her older sister, Maude Apatow, 21, Leslie couldn’t resist chiming in with a little critique. In a lighthearted comment, Leslie pointed out something she thought Iris could tweak in her makeup routine.
“Under eye concealer too light 💋 mom,” Leslie, 47, playfully wrote, tossing in a few heart-eyed emojis for good measure. By the time she hit send, though, Iris had already noticed her mom’s input. And, as any teenager might do, she wasn’t entirely thrilled about it.
Iris quickly shot back, suggesting that a simple text message might have been more considerate. “A text would have been nice,” she replied. Her comment resonated with fellow celeb daughter Coco Arquette, the daughter of Courteney Cox, who jumped in to agree. “U look WELL RESTED,” Coco cheekily added, showing solidarity with Iris.

Leslie Mann: The Mom Who Knows Best (Sort Of)
While Leslie didn’t respond to Iris’ comment, she’s admitted in the past that she loves learning from her daughters when it comes to beauty tips. Back in June 2018, Leslie told Us Weekly that she frequently turns to Maude and Iris for makeup advice. “I ask their opinions and they ask mine,” she explained with a laugh. “Iris doesn’t really care what I have to say, Maude does a little more than Iris, and then I care what both of them have to say. That’s how it works!”
But when it comes to acting, things get a little trickier. Maude, who’s following in her mom’s footsteps, doesn’t exactly take Leslie’s advice to heart. “She doesn’t really listen to me,” Leslie admitted to Us. “I try, but she doesn’t listen.” Sounds like Maude’s got her own ideas—and that’s something Leslie seems to respect, even if it drives her a little crazy.
Supporting the Next Generation: Leslie’s Role as a Mom and Mentor
As the star of Knocked Up, Leslie is proud to see her daughters following in her footsteps. Despite the challenges of the acting industry, she believes her kids have it easier than she did when she first started out. “It’s a little bit easier for them [because] when I started I was very poor and hungry and now my daughter Maude … has a job as an actress but she’ll complain about things being hard, and I think, ‘It’s not hard,” Leslie shared with ABC News in 2018. “At least you have food in the refrigerator and nice sheets. You’re fine!’”
