When Prince Harry’s bundle of joy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, made his grand entrance into the world on Monday, May 6, the royal dad didn’t waste any time sharing the happy news. But here’s the twist—he didn’t hop on a plane or rush to tell his loved ones in person. Nope, Harry turned to modern technology and sent out the exciting update via a WhatsApp group chat.
According to Mike Tindall, Zara Tindall's husband and a member of the royal family's inner circle, "Me, my brother, and then a few of Zara’s side like her brother Pete and the cousins are all part of a WhatsApp group." Mike, speaking to the Daily Mirror, added, "I wouldn’t say we’re cutting-edge tech wizards or anything, but for some reason, WhatsApp just makes everything easier." It seems the royal family has embraced the convenience of digital communication, just like the rest of us.
The Royal Family’s Digital Connection

While Mike didn’t go into specifics about every single member of the royal WhatsApp group, it’s a safe bet that key family members like Prince William, Princess Beatrice, Kate Middleton, Princess Eugenie, and Meghan Markle are part of the conversation. After all, this is where the family stays connected, shares updates, and, in this case, celebrates the arrival of a new little prince.

Mike, who is no stranger to parenting with two kids of his own—Mia Tindall, 5, and Lena Tindall, 10 months—probably jumped at the chance to congratulate Harry on becoming a dad. Not only did he offer his heartfelt congratulations, but he might have even thrown in a few pieces of parenting advice along the way. After all, Mike knows a thing or two about raising little ones.
A New Generation of Royals
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Mike shared his thoughts on Harry’s new role as a father, saying, "He’ll be a great dad. Obviously, he’s Lena’s godfather, but we’ve got a fantastic group of young ones in the family now. Lena and [Prince] Louis are similar in age, while Mia fits right in between [Princess] Charlotte and [Prince] George. Then, of course, you’ve got Peter’s children, Savannah and Isla, who are just a bit older." It’s clear that the next generation of royals is growing up fast, and they’ll have plenty of playdates to look forward to.
