At 89 years young, Clint continues to be an integral part of his family’s life, even as his storied career keeps him busy.
Alison Eastwood Shares Stories of Growing Up with Clint
Alison Eastwood, now 47 and an accomplished actress herself, reflected on her upbringing with Clint in a candid conversation with Closer Weekly. "He wasn’t just some distant movie star to me," Alison revealed. "He was my dad, and he acted like any other dad would. Sure, he’d yell when I did something wrong, but he also showed incredible support when I was doing well. It was a pretty normal childhood, all things considered." Alison, known for her role in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, painted a picture of Clint that many fans might find surprising—less the tough guy from the screen and more the nurturing parent behind closed doors.
Clint's Relaxed Parenting Style
While Clint may have played the no-nonsense cowboy in countless Westerns, Alison insists he's far more laid-back in real life. "He’s way more relaxed than people might think," she joked. "Maybe even too relaxed. But hey, don’t tell him I said that!" Clint's Advice for Aspiring Directors
When Alison decided to step into the director’s chair herself, Clint was there to offer some sage advice. "He’s got a great sense of humor, so his biggest piece of advice was, ‘Make sure you get plenty of sleep, because you’re going to need it,'" Alison recalled with a laugh. "But he also reminded me to trust my instincts and not second-guess myself. That’s something I’ve taken to heart." As Clint approaches his 90th birthday in May 2020, Alison reflected on how their relationship has evolved over the years. "We’re more like friends now. We laugh a lot, and we can talk about everything from directing to acting to the business side of things," she said fondly. "And we both love animals, so that’s always a great topic of conversation!"
A Bond That Stands the Test of Time
Despite the passage of time, Alison and Clint’s bond remains as strong as ever. "We’re still close, and we celebrate Thanksgiving together every year," she added. "There’s so much we share, and I’m really grateful for that."
