When Judy Greer first entered the limelight as the lovable sidekick in blockbuster rom-coms like 13 Going on 30 and The Wedding Planner, her charm was instant. "My husband always tells me, 'You're not America's Sweetheart — you're America's Best Friend!'" Judy Greer, now 44, shared with Closer Weekly, laughing heartily. Her on-screen persona often mirrors her real-life personality, where she’s always ready to drop everything to help someone out. "And usually my job in a rom-com is to say, 'Why are you being such an idiot?' As my friends will attest, I’m pretty good at that!" she adds.
Judy’s life has expanded beyond the silver screen. In the eight years since marrying producer Dean E. Johnsen, 51, she’s embraced her role as a stepmom to his children, Lucas, 19, and Emilee, 25. "Being a stepmom has been the greatest gift," she says warmly. "There was definitely a learning curve, but it’s been so awesome and fun. It’s about building relationships, not just assuming they’ll naturally fall into place."

Beyond her acting, Judy’s making waves in other areas. She's starring as Jim Carrey’s ex-wife in the Showtime series Kidding, creating a new signature cocktail, and championing causes close to her heart. "I work with this chimpanzee sanctuary in Georgia called Project Chimps, and I’m inspired by my friend Jennifer Garner to do more charity work," she tells Closer. "Everything’s so great right now!"

What’s New with Judy Greer?
Besides wrapping up Season 2 of Kidding, Judy’s been busy with her voice-over work, including Ask the StoryBots for Netflix and Let’s Go Luna! for PBS Kids. She also lent her voice to the animated film America for Netflix alongside Channing Tatum and started the 11th season of Archer on FXX. "I’m so excited about everything I’ve been working on," she says.
What Role Defines Judy Greer?
For many fans, it’s her role in 13 Going on 30. "People love it so much," she says with a smile. "They’re even doing a musical about it. I don’t have anything to do with it, but I’d jump at the chance to work with Jennifer Garner again."

Judy’s early career included a memorable love scene with George Clooney in the 1999 film Three Kings. "It was wild," she recalls. "I was cast last minute, and my first meeting with George was when we started rehearsing the scene. It was the most surreal three minutes of my life!"
Preparing for Future Love Scenes
Her experience with George Clooney prepared her for her next role in What Planet Are You From?, where she had a love scene with Garry Shandling. "He asked if I’d ever done a love scene before, and I said, 'Yes, with George Clooney!'" she laughs.
