A Milestone Birthday with Grace and Gratitude
When legendary singer Tina Turner celebrated her 80th birthday on Tuesday, November 26, she gifted her fans with more than just music. She shared a heartfelt video on her official YouTube channel, radiating happiness and positivity. At this milestone in her life, Tina expressed how thrilled she is to have reached this point, defying her own expectations about aging. “Yes, I’m 80! You know what? I didn’t think I’d feel this way at 80,” she laughed, her signature charisma shining through. “I look fantastic, I feel incredible, and it’s like I’ve been given a second chance at life. I’m proud to be an 80-year-old woman!”

From Heartbreak to Triumph: Tina's Resilient Spirit
Tina’s journey to this moment of joy hasn’t been without its challenges. At 80, she’s faced more than her fair share of heartbreak. Her marriage to Ike Turner was a notoriously toxic relationship that left deep scars. And in July 2018, her eldest son, Raymond Craig Turner, tragically took his own life just weeks before turning 60. “He was such a sweet man,” a close friend of Tina’s revealed to Closer Weekly. “But life dealt him a tough hand—financial struggles and years of battling depression. Tina was always there for him, but sometimes even love isn’t enough.”
Despite the pain of losing her son, Tina found the strength to honor his memory publicly. In a poignant social media post, she wrote, “My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner. I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was only 59, but he will always be my baby.”

The Healing Power of Faith
Throughout her life’s ups and downs, Tina has turned to Buddhism as a source of strength and solace. Her faith has been a guiding light through some of the darkest times, including the loss of her son and her strained relationship with her mother, Zelma. “I realize my mom and I were either estranged or at odds with each other our whole lives,” Tina reflected in her memoir, Tina Turner: My Love Story. “But I guess you could say I was born with a Buddha nature inside of me because the miracle is that I never gave up.”
By focusing on the positive aspects of her life, Tina has managed to reclaim her happiness. “I almost lost everything,” she admitted. “But love saved me. I’ve never been happier than I am today. Life has given me so much to be grateful for.”
