Since the joyful arrival of his newborn daughter, Nava James, in July, Kevin McKidd has been absolutely glowing with the joys of fatherhood. Even though this makes four children for the Grey’s Anatomy star, he’s finding this phase of parenthood to be smoother and more fulfilling than ever before. Kevin, who is now 46, recently opened up to People about how his perspective on family life has evolved over the years.

A New Chapter in Fatherhood

Reflecting on his earlier years of parenting during his first marriage to Jane Parker, which lasted for 18 years, Kevin admits, “I am more relaxed now than I was back then. With my first children, it was all so stressful for me. Now, I truly appreciate every step of the journey.” This newfound calmness has made all the difference as he navigates life with his growing family, including his wife Arielle Goldrath.

Life with Arielle and the Kids

Kevin, who shares Joseph, 19, and Iona, 17, with his ex-wife Jane, and Aiden, 1, and Nava, 5 months, with Arielle, spoke candidly about the daily routine of raising a newborn with his wife. “We take turns getting up at 5:30 a.m. with Nava,” he explained. “Even though I often have to be on the set of Grey’s Anatomy by 6 a.m., I still make it a point to help out.”

His love for his adorable baby girl is evident in every word. “Nava is content, happy, and all smiles,” Kevin gushed. “She’s such a good sleeper, which makes everything easier for us.” Fans can’t help but notice how fast baby Nava is growing up, as it seems like just yesterday when Kevin proudly announced her birth on Instagram.

A Heartwarming Announcement

Back when Nava was born, Kevin took to Instagram to share the happy news with his followers. “I’m so thrilled to announce the arrival of our little bundle of joy—Nava James McKidd,” he wrote, alongside a sweet photo of his newborn daughter resting on Arielle’s chest. “She’s truly amazing, and our entire family feels incredibly blessed.”

Parenting Two Little Ones

With Aiden and Nava being only 14 months apart, Kevin and Arielle have their hands full, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. In a recent interview with People, Kevin expressed how proud he is of his little boy’s development. “Aiden is doing some amazing things,” he shared. “He’s already saying words like ‘hungry’ and learning how to say ‘I love you.’ It’s such a crucial part of human growth, and it’s heartwarming to see him embrace it.”
